How to Create Great Tasting Coffee

In the beginning:

  1. Start with fresh coffee beans.  Coffee beans tend to have the best flavor and aroma 24 hours to 10 days after they have been roasted.  As they age, the oil in the beans begin to turn rancid and the coffee flavor turns increasingly bitter.
  2. Grind your beans right before you use them. Ground coffee loses flavor and aroma very fast once its ground.
  3. Use water from a good source (bottled, filtered, or good tasting tap water). Good tasting water will enhance the flavor of your coffee.
  4. Select your favorite brewing method.

My Top 3 Brewing Methods:

I prefer to use a French Press.  …I didn’t think that it would make much difference, but it does.  Its kind of like cooking eggs. There are several different ways to cook them (fried, hard boiled, scrambled) and they all taste very different. So it is also true with how you brew your coffee.

My second choice is straight espresso or espresso with water added also known as an Americano.

My third choice would be a drip coffee maker.
